A specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation known as Physiatrist treats patients with physical and/or cognitive impairments and disabilities that result from musculoskeletal, neurological or other medical conditions. Physiatrists have expertise in medications, therapeutic exercise and interventions for management of pain and spasticity, electro diagnosis, prostheses, orthoses and other equipment to assist daily activities and coordinate treatment to help patients improve their physical, psychological, social and vocational function.

Message from General Secretary
A Physiatrist or PMR physician is a medical specialist in pain, paralysis, musculoskeletal disorders, rheumatological diseases, diseases of nerve and brain, injury and illness related to disability. Physiatrist approaches to patient with a look at the person as a whole not just the disease or condition. BAPMR is the national medical specialty organization in Bangladesh that represents about 260 Physiatrists nationwide. The association started its journey in 1995 under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Md. Quamrul Islam the father of Physical Medicine in Bangladesh. Since the beginning the association has been sincerely working to raise the awareness regarding the specialty among physicians and general people. Our members are actively participating in scientific meeting at national, regional and international level with exchange of new ideas in the field of Physiatry. BAPMR has been organizing scientific seminars, symposium, workshops and international days related to disability regularly.

It’s a great pleasure to invite you to our 8th International Scientific Conference going to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh on December 20-21,2014 on behalf of the organizing committee of Bangladesh Association of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Conference (BAPMRCON) 2014. My heartiest call to the members of BAPMR, Physiatrists, Physicians of other discipline and specialist physicians involved in treatment and rehabilitation of disability at home and abroad to come forward to make this conference successful through their active participation. We are looking forward to bring the Rehabilitation community together in an exciting educational and scientific meeting.
The theme of this conference “ Ensuring Quality and Independent Life for the Disabled” expresses our endeavor to project forward the role of Medical Rehabilitation as well as PMR discipline for ensuring better life for the disabled people of our country.
The expected number of participants are more than 500. Leading experts of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from home and abroad are expected to present their learned papers here. We encourage the participants to bring forward their most recent scientific works, new and emerging concepts and innovations in the field of Rehabilitation in our region.
Hands-On Workshop on “ Musculoskeletal Ultrasound” and “Interventional techniques in PMR “ will make the conference attractive for all practicing medical professionals interested in this field especially the young doctors and residents having training in PMR and other related disciplines.

Dear Colleague,
We on behalf of BAPMR welcome you all to this scientific conference. We hope, the participation of national and international delegates in the plenary Sessions of this conference will emphasize the role of medical rehabilitation, comprehensive musculoskeletal health care and better pain management for ensuring quality and independent life for the disabled.
In free paper sessions we will expect various presentations of the recent research works in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and also in other related disciplines.
Abstract Submission guidelines:
- Abstract Submissions must be sent to bapmrb@gmail.com with a cc to Dr. Monirul Islam ( monirul852@gmail.com)
- Papers, poster, and presentations by experts working in the field of medical rehabilitation, musculoskeletal health an pain management will be preferred for presentation and publication in the meeting.
- All authors will be required to declare any potential, real, or perceivable conflict of interest.
- Abstracts should be 300 words or less, in English, including title, but not authors or affiliations. Left justified, single spaced, 12 point, times new roman. Figures and references are not allowed.
- All presenters must be registered to the conference and attend the meeting.
- Abstract title should appear in bold, do not indent. Title should indicate the content of the abstract.
- Use first initial followed by last name, omit degrees. For paper submission place an asterisk (*) after the name of author presenting the paper. On a separate line, type as succinctly as possible the names of institutions and countries.
- Leave one blank in between the title/author block and the abstract text. The abstract text should include background, methods, results and conclusion.
- Each abstract must be submitted in electronic form as MS Word for windows 2007, or any previous version.
